We’re proud to offer the opportunity to experience the Olympics in China with UA host Greg Rhodenbaugh, assistant men’s swimming and diving coach. You’ll get the inside scoop about what really goes on behind the scenes. In 2008, China will share its breathtaking spirit while showcasing its current state of economic, cultural, and social development. All eyes throughout the world will be transfixed on the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing. The worldwide celebration of athleticism, skill, and perseverance combines with one of the world’s most exciting destinations. It’s certain to be a memorable experience.

And, eight is a lucky number in Chinese culture — it’s associated with prosperity and confidence. The Summer Olympics begin August 8, 2008 (08/08/08), with the opening ceremony set to start at 08:08:08 p.m. As history unfolds in events at the Games, you’ll have a front-row seat to watch it all and share in the spirit of the theme, “One world, one dream.” With more than 5,000 years of civilization, China will showcase Beijing and its historical sites in the outlying provinces. During your full-day excursion, you’ll visit the famous Great Wall; it’s the world’s longest man-made structure, extending more than 4,000 miles. Journey to the Ming Dynasty Tombs — the burial site of 13 emperors — where you’ll walk along the Spirit Way, or Avenue of the Animals, which consists of 24 animal sculptures. Large statues of soldiers, civil officials, and scholars guard the entrance to the tombs. We’ve designed a base program for you to enjoy, along with optional Olympics extensions available. Event tickets will be available through Cartan Tours, but keep in mind that the United States has a limited number of tickets allotted for spectators.
