Take
a journey with us to exotic, mysterious Egypt — the ancient land of
pharaohs and guardian of secrets — famous for its ancient
civilizations and some of the world’s most beguiling, important
monuments. Throughout the centuries, the threads of three cultures —
African, European, and Mediterranean — have been intricately woven
into an exotic tapestry that is modern-day Egypt. In Cairo, view
royal mummies in the prestigious Egyptian Museum, shop the vibrant
Khan el-Khalili bazaar, and discover the religious heritage of
Coptic Cairo. Marvel at the ruins of Memphis, particularly its
colossal statue of the Pharaoh Ramses II and the ancient burial
ground at Sakkara. And, a trip to Cairo wouldn’t be complete without
a visit to the ancient, iconic pyramids — especially the Great
Pyramid of Giza — and the enigmatic Great Sphinx of Giza.
Next,
you’ll fly to Luxor and embark on a cruise of the Nile River — the
longest river in the world — to the Luxor and Karnak temple
complexes in the endless valleys of the kings and queens. Continue
to the Temple of Horus in Edfu, the impressive Temple of Kôm Ombo,
and the island temple complex of Philae in Aswân. Then drift
peacefully on the Nile while the graceful sails of a felucca boat,
powered only by gentle breezes, transports you around Kitchener’s
Island. You’ll visit the massive monuments of Abu Simbel, including
the Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor.
