Discover
the stunning seascapes, riveting histories, and glorious countryside
of the Normandy and Brittany regions. From Cabourg, you’ll travel to
Bayeux to see the famed Bayeux tapestry, dating back to the 11th
century, that depicts the events surrounding the Norman invasion of
England in 1066. Turning to World War II history, you’ll learn about
the Allied invasion of France with visits to the Caen Memorial for
Peace, which charts the events leading up to D-Day and the
aftermath. You’ll also journey to Omaha Beach, one of the principal
landing ports in German-occupied France during the Normandy landings
on June 6, 1944, and the British landing zone at Arromanches. Next,
you’ll pay tribute to the brave American soldiers who died in Europe
during World War II at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.
Next, you’ll sample the renowned brandy at a Calvados distillery and
explore the harbor town of Honfleur. After that, you’ll stop at
Mont-Saint-Michel, a magnificent monastery and one of the most
impressive sights in France. Construction began in the eighth
century and continued for 1,000 years. You’ll travel to Rennes, your
home base in Brittany and the region’s capital. Immerse yourself in
local culture and history in Josselin, Vannes, and Carnac. Then,
cruise along the Rance River from medieval Dinan to Saint-Malo — the
walled city famous for its pirateer past, ramparts, and unique
architecture. The tour will take you to Chartres, home to the
stunning Cathedral of Chartres, long considered one of France’s
finest examples of Gothic architecture. You’ll conclude your
adventure in the elegant capital city of Paris — best known as the
City of Light — and return home with memories to last a lifetime!
