Don’t
miss your chance to experience the wonders and history of this
venerable country, rich in majestic monuments, churches, and
museums. Grounded in tradition and driven by a vibrant modern
spirit, Ukraine is rapidly forging a new identity within modern-day
Europe. Second in size to its neighbor to the northeast, Russia,
Ukraine is located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Explore
this remarkable land while sailing through the heart of the country
on the fabled Dnieper River. Visit the historic Caves Monastery in
the capital city of Kiev, and marvel at the city’s glittering domes
and classic city skyline. Next, stop in Zaporizhia, the cultural
home of the Cossacks, famous for their military skills, particularly
horsemanship. Travel to Kherson and admire the elegant city of
Odessa, commonly referred to as the Pearl of the Black Sea. Then,
journey to Crimea, and discover the seaside towns at Sevastopol and
Bakhchisarai — inspiration for Russian poet Aleksandr Pushkin’s The
Fountain of Bakhchisarai. To close this adventure, discover the
Crimean resort town of Yalta. Called the Nice of the Black Sea,
Yalta was the site of the 1945 Yalta Conference. You’ll visit
Livadia Palace, the site of the historic conference, and former
summer residence of the last Russian czar, Nicholas II of the House
of Romanov. Your adventure also includes a visit to Bucharest,
Romania, where you’ll explore the Romanian city of Tulcea and
witness the beauty of the Danube Delta, both UNESCO World-heritage
sites.
