Meeting Opened at 3:12 p.m.

President’s Report

Discussion of meeting with Jay on July 29th at 5 p.m. (Hanson may be there).
Need to develop an agenda:
  1.	Introductions
  2.	General attitude of our functions (what is our purpose)
  3.	Improving communication with UA Band and Staff
  4.	We are not fundraisers!
  5.	Where is the common ground (public relations)?
  6.	Future goals for Alumni Band
  7.	Football duties (i.e. Skybox and Tailgate Band)
  8.	UCLA Trip
  9.	Fiesta Bowl Classic (Basketball)
 10.	Brochures
 11.	Homecoming

Discussion of Alumni/Pride of Arizona Picnic:
  The date has been set for August 22nd at Himmel Park  11-5
    Someone needs to be there early
    Grills are needed (Call Dave Ball)
    Beer permit is needed (Brian Pierson)
    Trophy is needed (Band Office)
    Trash cans (David Olson)
    50-100 are expected this year

Last year’s picnic groceries included:
  2 - 30 packs of beer
  35 cases of soda
  3 watermelons
  8 bags of chips
  2 boxes of veggie burgers
  18 packs of hamburger and hot dog buns
  5 boxes of hamburgers
  5 boxes of hot dogs

Secretary’s Report
  WILL SEND OUT THE MINUTES (SEE?) TO EVERYONE ON THE BOARD AND JAY REES!

Treasurer’s Report
  Roughly $2000 in checking 
  Roughly $5000 in Split savings
  Approx. $200 was spent on the newsletter

Membership Committee
  Nothing to report

UCLA Trip Committee
  John Prokop has sent email to President of UCLA Alumni Band, similar message was sent to UCLA Band Director.
  Request needs to made from UA Band so they can get tickets from Athletics (Andy will talk to Eve about tickets.)  Equipment will also be requested (Drums & Sousa’s)
  There will be a scheduled pre-game party by UA Alumni Club (John P. will be in charge)
  Laura Peggler called to suggest we use a local Pasadena Instrument dealer to rent instruments (Put this in newsletter)
  Milt Dardis wants phone numbers of Southern Cal Band Alumni so he can contact them
  John P. wants to call hotels to get rooms reserved (Contact Eve about travel plan suggestions)
  Transportation (Buses) might not be necessary.  Carpooling is a better option.

Alumni/Pride of Arizona Picnic
  August 22nd 11-5 p.m.  Himmel Park
  Set-up is at 10 A.M.
  Uniform check-out is that day.  However no rehearsal.
  Dave Olson will get food and write the article for the newsletter.
  See above for other details.

Newsletter
  Need to re-evaluate newsletter ads.  Want to do 2 pages with 2 $100 ads.  Andy will contact Eeggee’s.  John will contact Beaver’s Band Box.

Articles for newsletter will be:
  Picnic Article (David O.)
  President’s Letter (Andy B.)
  UCLA Update (John P.)
  Get together for August (Andy B.)
  Plaza Palomino (Dave O.)
  Fiesta Bowl Classic (?)  (What if big bowl game interferes?)
  Social planned for August 7th at Nimbus or Gentle Ben’s *(Andy B.)

Homecoming
  Was not able to get Wildcat Club.  Student Union is reserved for Senior Ballroom from 6:30-8:00 a.m.

Need Dave Olson to make arrangements for catering.  

Tent for homecoming festivities is needed.

  Social at Nimbus - August 7th

Next meeting will be August 15th TBA ( FIRST DAY OF BAND CAMP!!!)
