MinutesUAAB meeting 12/11/05 – UA student union
Meeting called to order at 2:22pm
Suggestion to meet at Andy’s work for meetings
Scholarship fund – going to happen – John Lee – spoke to about it – Mike talked to him at homecoming and glad we want to take over.
John spoke to Holsclaw Jr. that Holsclaw put aside $25,000 for a Jack Lee Scholarship. Monies are available for funding for future scholarship through early fund raising. Bear Down Fund? Idea for name of Scholarship
Want to start small, award amounts may start small.
Need to get together with the Donors, Directors, and coordinators. Development of requirements will be from the Lee family and band department.
Want to give it to a student that does not already have a scholarship.
We will be involved but details to come.
We will not have much to do with it, but we are starting it so we will be associated with it.
We want to have input with all that happens!
Band Boosters are going to be changing – Jack Lee has majority of interest in the Band boosters. John has power of attorney, not happy with how everything is happening.
Want to absorb it into the endowment fund? They are seen as Grants. Band uses money, is needed and if in the endowment fund limits the money use.
Will work on details before we get definite word of what will happen in future

***Rees wants to meet with UAAB board to figure way to get new alumni involved in Homecoming.
Mike was thinking to change alumni breakfast on Saturday morning to a dinner on the Friday night before homecoming. Figure out dinner for alumni should be on campus than be able to go to bonfire and reception or bar to hang out.
Will get input from alumni and see if we get positive or negative feed back and go from there.
Agreed that many more alumni may be willing to attend dinner and socialize than having to get up so early the morning of homecoming. Will have to see what comes from the opinions of others before it can be set in stone.
