UAAB meeting 2/18/07 – UA student union

In Attendance: Mike Cole, Kathy Dwyer, Steve Smith, Ward Steven, Celina Reyes, Bryon Pierson, Andrew Barcellos

Started meeting at 11:20 am

Pep band Gigs-

• Next Sat. 24th scholarship dinner.- in phoenix – dinner at 5:30 – leave at 2:30 or 3pm at Airport – meet on the north side and leave in group- car pool or van it
• Gymnastics- Friday march 16th- 6:45pm – play opening – should we stay?
• La Paloma – March 17th gig, waiting to hear back about this gig.

Homecoming

• Account balances – looks good
• Newsletter – Get it out to alumni by July to get it out second week in August so we can give enough time to plan for flights, dinner, and game tickets.
• Dinner – went well – will do it again – need to get reservation for maybe 75 to 100. lots of good reactions for it to happen again.
• Parade – yeah parade!
• Lunch – need to better prepare for lunch at homecoming – almost didn’t have enough food. The time restriction was what made the band stay.
  Michelle will look into price changes to see if other ways to have them cut and packages for less.
• Game/halftime – on November 3rd, 2007 playing UCLA
  Ticket situation is that do we want to buy tickets ahead or just those that get ordered to us, face value cost must be what it says can not get profit off of the tickets so we need to decide to get the tickets on their own or through us.
  Get sponsor? Help to pay for the coverage of the tickets and than we can make the money back through selling them for face value – get 80 tickets -Kathy will speak with his marketing person and Jim Click as well.
• Do we want to include family members – must make a reservation or order tickets.

Motion that we continue to get tickets for homecoming, second, passes.

Get an email together to let alumni know what their monies go to. Need to market what their donations go towards.

Current situation with Athletics - poor attendance is reason for winter cancellation – Mike has been trying to keep the fire at bay about the alumni not being able to participate with the basketball games. Still in good standing, they will pass gigs up to us if they feel that it is appropriate. We are not going to do winter break games, but we are not at odds with the band dept or athletics.

Looking ahead

• Homecoming 2007 – November 3rd, 2007
• Band camp – in June meeting
• Newsletter – finalize to send out in July at June meeting

Treasurer – 3 cents interest. Band booster checks have been MIA in mail.
Shirts – gazillion maroon colored shirts want to look into getting them out sell them for less.
Michelle offers to sell them for $5. or give them to graduating seniors next year.

New business – Tailgate pass – Celina will get the pass for tailgating if possible will come back to this when more info is known.
